True Jersey, HR Director?

I had my interview for the HR Director position yesterday. I wasn't sure how it went...I felt good about my answers, but I still felt like I didn't have enough experience in certain areas to be considered. Then, lo and behold, about an hour after I get home from the interview the phone rings. Its the CEO, asking me to come back for a second interview. Wow. So now I really have to think about whether I am actually capable of doing this job. And I am not talking about giving myself a pep talk and saying "You Can Do It!" I mean, the company has no HR department right now, so I would have to build the whole deal from scratch. Is that super-exciting, or is it super-scary? And, its a non-profit company. Which could be great to work for because the people might be really nice and cool. Or it could suck because the money's not as good and I hate crunchy-granola people.

All I know is that I have picked out all these new clothes I want to buy for myself, and all these clothes for Princess. So I need a job soon. I have another interview on Monday at a different company, and then I have my second interview for this job on Wednesday. So, we'll see what happens.

That would be a cool experience to build from scratch as you say. But yeah, there is the danger of crunchy-granola people, I HATE them, too!

I like Danielle's "go with your gut" advice. You really have to!

And I LOVE that leopard beret!!! It's adorable! (sometimes I miss not having a girl!)

Do you have experience in RH work? Do you think you can go in there and not have to get a lot of training? If you have experience, go for it. The little still voice in your head will tell you what to do. It probably would look good on your resume. Good luck to you and princess.

hi true,
good luck with the second interview - don't sweat it about whether or not you think you can do the job. considering there is no HR dept now, you'll be able to build things up the way you want them done, which i think would be very liberating. just think of it as great experience and an advantage for you if you go for another director job in the future.

That is so cool! If you do get the HR job, hire me if I move to NJ in the future! hehe.

I personally like to look at other people's resumes. It always makes me laugh when they list their personal interests. My fingers and eyes are crossed for you!

Oh wait, this isn't working for Starbucks is it? :)

Good Luck! I recently went back to work in the HR Dept. of a large university. It is pretty interesting work. I am sure you will do awesome at your interview.

This is SO exciting! It's super scary to go into something that doesn't exist and think, "Can I make this into something real?" I was at that point this time last year. But, it's also a way for you to prove to yourself just how good you really are.

Non-profit folk are, for the most part, really good people. Not all of them are super crunchy - just...nice.

Good luck!!!!

Hi fellow Jersey Girl. I work for a non-profit in Jersey. The pay is horrible, but I get tons of vacation time. There are tons of opportunities, but very political. Get ready to kiss some azz..good luck :-)
PS Love the look of your blog.
