Six Feet Under Finale - Spoilers Below

So what did everyone think of the series finale of Six Feet Under?

At first, I hated it. I was sure Brenda's baby was going to die and I did not want that to happen. As a mom whose daughter was taken from her as soon as she was born and put into the NICU - it hit a little too close to home. And Nate was just being so obnoxious; even though he was dead I still wanted to stab him in the eye with something sharp.

And then I hated it more, because this group of horribly wonderfully dysfunctional people suddenly became...well, functional. Everyone got their shit together and everyone became one big happy family. The whole time, Hub was shooting hex-eyes at the tv trying to kill them all off, because he thought the best way for it to end would be for them to all be having dinner together and either The Big One (earthquake) hits and they all die, or else there is a gas leak and they all die or someone comes in and shoots them all and they all die. He was just so sick of every one of the characters that he wished death on them. And I don't blame him. They did all get very annoying and whiney and hard to bear.

But then, the way it actually ended...it was touching. I was teary. Clare drives away and then you flash forward to how each of them finally do die...and how sad was it to see Keith get shot? He was the most normal person on that whole show. And seeing David teaching his son the business...ah, Fisher and Sons, it does go on. And seeing that Willa (the new baby) was, in fact, okay. That was good. So overall, I did enjoy it and I did think it ended well and I will miss the show.

What did you think? Were you disappointed in how it ended, or did you think they went out the right way?

(Edit: Sorry about the word verfication in the comments. I am so sick of comment spam and have to do something about it.)

It was so "not what I had expected" yet at the same time "so right". I had also anticipated some sort of "mass slaughter" or at least one more major character's death to have occurred during the finale, but I never figured it would end this way. I had mixed feelings about the "happily ever after" ending that I thought we were getting, but then when Ruth died I lost it, and it all began to make sense. There was plenty to nitpick about in this episode, but overall I thought this was a perfect ending to a great show.

I watched season 1 and lost interest! I am eagerly awaiting Season 5 of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and another "Sopranos" season on HBO!

I haven't ever seen it either.

Seems the spamming is hitting lots! Hope you figure it out.

I only saw one episode last year. I don't have cable. (boo hoo) There's just not enough time to watch TV. I have to watch it vicariously through you!

Comment span is SUCKING! Let us know if this works.

Bumb, sopranos comes back in March 06.

I loved the ending, it was bittersweet though because it was a great show. I will miss it.

Oh my GOD, I had tears welling up as Claire drove away. Absolutely brilliantly done.

I want to know what the song was, too, since I'm such a geek. I usually check the HBO site for the music, but they don't have it posted for this episode yet! Damn them!

And it was WICKED sad to see that Keith got shot...at least he looked to be in his 50's or so, so the boys had a chance to grow up. My only complaint was that the makeup/latex/whatever they used to age the actors was kind of OUT THERE.

Stopping by to say hello....

I did not read this post. You said spoilers and I skipped to the comment box. I love Six Feet Under but I have been seeing it on DVD. I do not have HBO or cable. Yes, we can pause to feel sorry for me now. .....

Pausing.....

This week season four is released. Yes, I am THAT far behind. Are we still pausing to feel sorry for me?

Please pretend you are.

I haven't seen it yet, haven't watched the show in years, but I think I might watch the finale. That sounds really cool that they show how each one dies.

I LOVED your comment on my post today, True. Made me laugh out loud and distrubed david tryiing to work...

I loved the ending. I was all weepy. And Patsy, David didn't have a heart attack BECAUSE he saw Keith, he saw Keith because he was dying and Keith was welcoming him to the afterworld. I thought it was so appropriate to show them all die as the ending of the show when the opening of each show was the death of someone. And, call me a sap, but I loved that Claire and Ted ended up getting together.

LOL- Everyone is adding word verification and I don't know if I'm unique in that, I have a hard time reading these things! ROFL.

AS for the show, I've never heard of it even. Where have I been?! The only show I go nuts for is LOST. I can't wait until it's back on.

Nice to meet you :)

I've installed a word verification; it's sad we have to, but the spammers have been attacking me.

Last's night final episode was brilliant. I bawled my eyes out when they were showing what happened to them all in the future - Keith getting shot, Claire going blind, I just kept crying harder and harder. The music was gorgeous - Breathe Me by Sia is an incredibly moving song

I agree that the SFU cast were getting a little whiney and hard to bear as well, but the ending tripped me out, but it was so fitting for something called SFU to show how everyone died! Cracked me up how most of them were just sitting there and all of a sudden the head lobs back and bam! they're dead!!! LOL. Yes, I agree SFU always bordered on the "different" so for them becoming just like everyone else was kind of a bummer! Ugh, I could just go on, and damnit, it was just a show!!! LOL.
Have a great day!

I've never seen an episode of this show. I'm currently hooked on "Monk" on USA Network. I may check this out when it comes out on DVD.

I never really got into that series. I think it was because of the setting. Funeral Home people. Totally freak me out. On the other hand, I prefer the cool likings of Tony Soprano. I can't WAIT for that show to come on again. I also really liked Deadwood and the bounty hunter show (reality). Speaking of which, aren't the bounty hunter people from Jersey?

I love SFU, I am sorry to see it go - but, after Nate bought it, the rest wasn't so eventful. I did like the very end though, when they fast forwarded to when everyone dies. All my HBO shows are going away, how sad!! They best come up with some new ones!! Deadwood's coming back, right? That's all I have left, I think.

Okay I read the first line and stopped. Six Feet Under just started airing here so don;t want to spoil any more viewing. I already accidentedly found out about Nate online and I am mortified!! (no pun intended)

I, too, am two seasons behind, because they don't broadcast it over here and I have to make do with the DVD's. Season 4 is coming out on September 5th.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Yours is awesome...I love the graphic layout, too. Consider yourself linked. :)
