So I planned to post about the amazing time I had on Saturday night with my friends and cousins. But that is going to have to wait because my basement is full of water.
The nor'easter hit Jersey pretty hard. At about 3pm on Sunday we started getting water in the basement, and the water is still coming in today. Now, if I had a normal person's basement, I would be upset but wouldn't really care that much. But have you seen my basement??? We have arcade games, pinball, air hockey, a big tv, and of course a full sized fridge full of beer. Its like a playground for adults. The best part is the bar, which is fondly named Margaritaville:
To make a long story short, we got several feet of water in the basement, and it is sewer water. Every time we pumped the water out, it kept coming back in. As of today, Tuesday, we still have about a foot of water down there. We got all of the low-lying stuff out so we didn't lose any pictures or memorabilia or anything like that. But our couch was floating around, the comfy chair is ruined, all the wood stuff (bar, entertainment center, shelving) is warped and going to rot, the carpet is done, and apparently the walls are going to have to be replaced as well if we can ever get the water out.
I am really sad about it because this is the place where everyone gathers, where I have had some of the best times of my life with my best friends. Its like a piece of history is gone. *tear*
