My Kid Rules and Other Random Stuff

(added 2/26)

Have I mentioned lately how cool my kid is? What songs are other 2 year olds singing, may I ask? A little Baa Baa Black Sheep, maybe a little Old McDonald? Not my kid. Princess's favorite song is "Beautiful Son" by Hole, and when she sings it, she makes a punk rock face that kicks ass. She will be the punk rocker I should have been but never was.

She has also started getting scared of things, and she will cling to my leg and say "Mommy, I scared." So I taught her that we aren't scared, we're tough. So now Princess will say, "Mommy I scared - no, I not scared, I TOUGH! Grrrrrrr!" Its so the cutest thing.
-------------------------
I have determined that I can't go to Amsterdam with Patsy and Diddy. Total bummer. But I can't rely on my parents to watch Princess for a whole week while I go swim in the Amstel River (it *is* a river of beer, no?). Its not fair to them. I so want to go to Amsterdam, its on my list of places to see before I die. I really am just dying to go back to Europe in general. But anyway, my amazingly cool cousin Chris is trying to plan a cousins trip to Key West (where me and Hub and Patsy and Diddy and J went in November). I am so in, because a 4 day trip is doable. We also just booked a cruise to Bermuda and the Bahamas for June, and we are bringing Princess with us. It should be interesting. We've never done the vacation thing with her before - we usually do the drop-her-off-at-Grammys-and-go-someplace-we-can-drink thing.
-------------------------
Work sucks. The only good thing is that I am the Chairperson of the Employee Activity Committee and I am planning a trip to the local minor league baseball team's opening game - which just so happens to be on a Thursday when they have $1 beers. Coincidence? I think not. (Patsy, plan to take that night off! Dollar beers - you cannot pass that up!!!)

Your daughter sounds like a neat kid! My son is 5 and his favorite song is "My Humps". Not sure how many kids his age like the Black Eyed Peas...

PS-I found your link on Andrea's blog. She's friend of mine from way back.

the kids really pick up on the music early on, it's great!!!
too bad about amsterdam but bahamas in june with the family sounds like a pretty fair trade off.

I've been to Amsterdam. It's all sex, drugs and rock and roll. When you go further from the red light district, the hookers get more ugly, no kidding! they are like all flabby and old posing in the windows!

You just can't tell how kids can be so smart now-a-days. It's sad you can't go to Amsterdam. Why not, maybe your parents won't mind having Princess with them for awhile. I'm sure she's lovely and a cutie.

Princess is very cool!

Too bad about Amsterdam, but the other vacations sound lovely.

And being the head of a cool committee is always fun.

We brought our girls to Paris a year ago. Not the most ideal travelling, but it is something you might consider for the future.

She sounds adorable

Don't think I would want to take a two year old to Europe for vacation. not fair to anybody--but a cruise yes

Ah do not fear. I will smoke enough pot for all of us in Amsterdam. Instead of pouring beer out for my dead homies, I will toke up for. I will inhale it though I won't just blow it out that would be a waste. And just tell me when this Thursday game is, we're on.

Oh true, Princess rocks and you know it! HElene is a right little wimp, and could do with some true coaching. Sad about amsterdam (no sorry it\'s not beer!) but i understand, i'm not sure i could leave Helene with my parents for a week either....

I really want to see the video of Princess saying, "I not scared! I tough!" Love little kids! When my niece was two she got toddler roller blades and my brother was holding her hands. She wrenched herself away and said, "I do myself! I do myself." They're just so adamant!

True, I loved Princess singing! Too cute. Ben was asked at pre-school a few weeks ago what his favorite song was. He replied, "I've Got a Woman" by Ray Charles. No cutsie songs for us either!
